The B2 Visa—America's entryway for pleasure travelers!

A B-2 visa is a short-term, non-immigrant visitor visa for personal or leisure purposes. Individuals traveling to the United States for tourism are eligible for this visa. The following are examples of legitimate tourism uses:
• Time off;
• Going to see friends and family;
• Taking a two-day cooking class, for example, as a short recreational course of study;
• Taking part in a melodic, sports, or comparable occasion in the event that not being paid for support;
• Clinical treatment; or
• Tourism-related travel activities that are prohibited on a B-2 visa:
• Paying or unpaid employment;
• Acquire training that counts toward a degree or diploma;
• Arrive in the United States as a member of a ship or aircraft crew;
• Work as a journalist, a member of the foreign press, or in another information media;
• Perform in front of a monetary audience;
• oversee a U.S.-based business; or
• U.S. citizenship. Am I a Good Candidate for a B-1 Visa? A person must meet the following requirements to be eligible for a B-2 visa:
• The visit must have a legitimate reason;
• The outing should be for a particular restricted timeframe;
• You must be able to pay for your own travel and lodging;
• You can demonstrate that you currently reside outside the United States and intend to return at the conclusion of the visit;
• There are no other restrictions that would prevent you from entering the United States, such as an arrest or a previous visa violation.
The steps involved in applying for a B-2 visa vary depending on the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where you submit your application. After the interview and approval, it is suggested that applicants refrain from making firm travel plans to the United States until they have their B-2 Visitor Visa in hand.
A person can stay in the United States on a B-2 visa for anywhere from one to six months, with a maximum of six months. A stay extension of up to six months may be granted after the initial stay has ended. With a few exceptions, the maximum amount of time spent in B-2 status on a single trip is one year. A dependent visa cannot be obtained for children under the age of 21 or spouses of B-2 non-immigrants. Each dependent who will travel to the United States with the B-2 visa holder must apply for their own B-2 visa separately.
